Are there any good books or resources for creating a 3D modeler other then going through open source software like blender?
Do you mean creating a 3D ‘model’ or ‘modeler’?
Creating a modeler would require, I’m guessing, 100,000 lines of code.
You don’t really want to do that, do you?
Question for people in the know: What would your estimations be for the number of lines of code in the Blender modeler?
3D modeling can be separated into two main fields :
a. Hard surface modeling – for example: chairs,tables,bikes ….

- 3DS MAx: modeling for games by Andrew Gahan
b. Organic modeling – like animals,faces,bodies and such…
