OGL on embedded Linux vs. DirectX on Windows XP Embedded

HI All, (Newbie here)

I researching a project and the options are either:

  • Embedded XP with DirectX support

or

  • Embedded Linux with OGL.

I’d prefer Embedded Linux with OGL but not familiar with OGL at all. Will this work? Are there any open projects working on something like this?

I have to work with Pixel shaders, does OGL have similar HW support for Pixel Shaders as does DX9?

Does the Latest OGL have similar HW support as does DX9 for majority of Graphics HW features?

Thanks in advance.

It depends on the Hardware. Nvidia support is good and the new driver has support for the OpenGL Shading Language. But AFAIK you need a Geforce FX or better. Don’t ask me about ATI I don’t know.

Embedded with shaders ? What sort of hardware is it ?

ATI X800 chip.

nvidia offers a cg compiler for linux, i don’t know about ati.

you might want to check out Sh, http://libsh.sourceforge.net/

it seems pretty usable already, plus they are requesting feedback/feature requests from game developers.
