I've thought about inquiring directly into this topic and to contact AMD, NVIDIA and Intel about current hardware characteristics and if their guides are still valid (which I suspect since they simply target unified cards starting from G80 and R600 chipsets). Also I think I'll ask Intel if they've got something close to a guide or anything on the matter that's publicly available.

The question is if anyone at the vendors feels inclined to help improving this wiki at all. BTW, is this wiki official? If so, it might be a convincing argument.

Is this the best we can do?

Performance is a frequent topic on the forums but this section is actually really poor in information. I can immediately think of including information from NVIDIA's and AMD's performance guides and I think there is a GPU Gems article explaining in detail the possible bottlenecks (although some of that would probably have to be revised with fully programmable pipelines).

If so, it might be a convincing argument. thokra (talk) 06:52, 1 October 2012 (PDT)
