Wolfire Games develops innovative, independent games for Linux, Mac OS, and Windows. In this article they explain why they are using OpenGL as their computer graphics API standard of choice, instead of the competing Direct3D. In essence they chose OpenGL because it is open, it supports cross-platform development, and is more powerful.
