JSpace OpenGL API-based 3D multi-user cyberspace adds TrueType support
JSpace is a general purpose, 3D, multi-user cyberspace. JSpace is a client-server version of the OpenGL API-based Digital Sunlite Project. JSpace has a more traditional client-server design instead of a peer-to-peer design. The 3d engine is based on the OpenGL graphics API. Right now it uses the fixed function graphics pipeline as opposed to vertex/fragment shaders. The new v.1 supports Trutype fonts using FTGL and Freetype.

TopDesk gives you instant access to any open window with a single keystroke using the OpenGL API for
TopDesk for Win XP gives you an overview of all open windows, including minimized windows. With a single key press, it immediately scales down all your windows, including your minimized windows, and tiles them all on-screen in an easy to navigate layout. (very similar to Mac OS X Exposé) View thumbnails of all open windows, display windows belonging to the current application, or hide all windows to quickly access the desktop. Window scaling and animation is in real-time using the OpenGL API.
VRMesh is a sketch-based free-form 3D polygonal modeling software using the OpenGL API, especially suitable for the conceptual 3d industrial design. The new V1.1 adds enhanced Digital Clay modeling for work on unstructured triangle meshes using Morph, Soft Brush, Crease Brush, Round Brush and Smooth Brush commands.
VirtualMEC is an OpenGL-API-based 3D CAD application for building Meccano models. Meccano is a model construction system made up of strips, plates, girders, wheels and gears, based on the principles of mechanical engineering. Using VirtualMEC, just like the real Mecanno, you start with a part, insert a bolt into a hole, then add another part, add a nut to the bolt, and so on. VirtualMEC contains the rendering and the behaviour logic of more than 250 parts.
Rearview is an open source real-time raytracing voxel engine intended to run fast enough to act as a game engine. It’s strengths are for rendering grown things, dirty things, bumpy things like smooth hills or old walls. The new v0.2.0 is faster and uses less memory. It requires an OpenGL API implementation and SDL.
This series of ten OpenGL Shading Language tutorials covers loading, compiling and linking GLSL programs, vertex and fragment programs, lighting, multitexturing, toon shading, and more.
OGRE is a popular open-source 3D graphics engine. This new v0.15.0 release adds OpenGL Shading Language (GLSL) to the list shader languages already supported (Cg, HLSL, assembler), optimizations to the binary mesh format, reflection enhancements, updated tools, and more.
FView for Mac OS X is a fast OpenGL API-powered picture viewer a la ACDsee (2.x). It is aimed at letting you read manga or other comics onscreen (windowed & fullscreen mode). Features include fast prefetching, smooth panning, voice commands, 2-page mode, the ability to browse pictures inside archives (.rar/.cbr, .zip/.cbz) and sticky per-picture options.
Ink9000 is open source software for creating non-photorealistic graphic novel style images from polygonal meshes uisng the OpenGL API. It is an exploration of using 3D graphics and image processing in support of art and illustration. The new v1.5 adds improved navigation control, color texture support, and several new styles.
Carrara 4 offers complete 3D modeling, animation and rendering for illustrators, animators and modelers, multimedia producers, and CAD designers. The new shipping V4 includes faster OpenGL API rendering, raytraced depth of field, shader transforms, vector and 3D motion blur, network rendering, and improved import/export.
The OpenGL Shading Language is a high level, hardware independent C-like programming language that integrates seamlessly with OpenGL to enable application developers to deploy interactive, cinematic-quality rendering effects using today’s latest Visual Processor Units. This Master class will show the capabilities of OpenGL Shading Language and teach developers how to write a range of shaders. The class includes source code samples, tips, techniques and demonstrations. The seminar will be held in Beaverton, Oregon from 8:30am until 4:00pm. Pre-registration is required.
Swift 3D allows designers to build and export vector and raster-based 3D animations to Flash format. The new v4.0 for Mac OS X adds an enhanced polygon modeling toolset with bitmap texturing, Bezier animation paths and uses the OpenGL API for hardware acceleration of preview and rendering.
Extglgen is a popular tool to generate an OpenGL library to load and use all OpenGL extension functions up to OpenGL 1.5 that are defined in the SGI glext.h header file. In the latest release, the generated library does not solely rely on wglGetProcAddress to return NULL if an extension is not supported, but it first checks the OpenGL extension string.
Video Fun Box is a 3D video titling program that can also create a wide range of fully customizable special effects using the OpenGL API. Effect and titles can then be exported in AVI format for inclusion in any video editing project.
Hybrid has released freely downloadable Win binaries of its M3G (JSR 184) API implementation for J2SE for non-commercial use. The M3G implementation is built as a lightweight wrapper on top of the Hybrid OpenGL ES API implementation and allows 3D graphics to be rendered at interactive frame rates on mobile devices. Hybrid’s OpenGL ES 1.0 and 1.1 implementations for Win32, N-Gage, and PocketPC 2003 are also available for download for non-commercial use free of charge. Demos and documentation are available.
