i noticed the geforce3 was capable of doing ARB_texture_border_clamp i suppose its not implemented on other nvidia cards because of the hardware or will it be implemented at a later stage?

i suggest the person who thought up texture borders needs to be severly punished , all those in favour
Texture borders are useful when you're manipulating huge maps that need to be decomposed in a number of textures (because of driver limitations) with filtering turned on. In some of our projects we would have loved to have a hardware accelerated implementation of texture borders just to easily get rid of that ugly filtering artifact on the border of the textures !
