Round objects - drawing a round table

Hi,
How would one go about drawing a round table, i’ve heard that it involves drawing many triangles or quads. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Draw a very thin and wide cylinder, there you have the plate. Of course, the more “round” it should be, the more polygons it needs.

I suggest to use a triangle fan for the top and bottom surface, and a triangle strip for the sides of the thin cylinder.
