can't find OpenGL

I have changed my Video Card from 3dfx to Asus GeForce 2. When I try to run config for Neverwinter I get the error “Can’t find OpenGL”. I’ve downloaded and run GLsetup but it didn’t help. What can I do next? any kind of trouble shooting tool for OpenGL? thanks!

Have you deinstalled all the 3fdx crap before you installed the Gf2?

Actually, it was done with other hardware upgrades at the computer shop. They did not do a good job. in fact, I booted up in safe mode and the 3dfx card was still there. I have since removed that entry, and deleted all files that has 3dfx in the name, as well as other suspicious entries in the registry. However, I do notice that I still have one key that I’m afraid to remove: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\MEDIA\0004 - it is showing 3dfx. I looked under MEDIA in safemode and this does not appear.

Did you removed the Glide DLL’s as well?

I am asking that because all Q3 based engines have the bad habit to check for a voodoo based board by searching for those DLL’s, if the game finds them it puts itself into a “Voodoo friendly” Mode and tries to load a “special” Voodoo OpenGL library (an MCD).

Well, thats just a brief description…

Anyway, sounds like there is still some old 3dfx stuff blocking the GF2.

Neverwinter doesn’t have the backward compatible features the the Quake engine has. I know you probably have already gotten this song and dance from bioware, but it does actually work. Download the Detonator drivers from www.nvidia.com. Install the Standard VGA driver, reboot the PC, install the Detonator drivers, and reboot. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I’ve found the Denator Drivers, but what is “install the standard VGA driver”?
I’ve seen people post detailed reports from Wolfenstein, so I installed the demo and here are the diags
