Call of Duty - Could not load opengl

Below is the error I received. I have tried everything on these boards. I currently have a gforce4 ti card from Nvidia. I have tried the following things:

    1. Downloading the tool that let's you run opengl games on direct3d
    2. loaded the drivers for opengl
    3. reloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia
    4. turned off certain services that seemed unecessary in the admin tool

I am running XP. Anyone discover a fix. The support information I have recieved from Nvidia, the Opengl forums and Activision all are complete bs. They always think that telling you to load the latest drivers for you video card will miraculously fix everything and then send you on your merry way...

Please help if you know of something that really works...

Could not load OpenGL. Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your video card from the manufacturer's web site.

Set your desktop to a resolution of 800x600, 32 bit True Color.
    1) Right-click on your desktop and select Properties.
    2) Click the Settings tab.
    3) Set your screen area to 800x600.
    4) Set the colors to 32 Bit (True Color). Under Windows NT this will be listed as 65554 colors.
    5) Click Apply and OK.
