OpenGL Acceleration Video Card

How can we get to know a video card’s property of OpenGL acceleration? Can we find such information before we buy a card? How to check my current video card’s OpenGL acceleration?

Uh… huh?

Virtually all modern gaming cards support OpenGL. The problem for modern games and cards is not a support of OpenGL but a support for hardware T&L and/or DirectX 9.0 capability.

If you’re looking to buy a new card, I highly recommend looking at this list from Tom’s Hardware:

One of our card, Voodoo5, although we set hardware acceleration level to full, my test program told me it is not “Fully Accelerated (ICD)”. Or is “OpenGL Acceleration” related only to driver?

The Voodoo5 card is quite old and obsolete. It is no longer supported by its creator 3Dfx. There are some fan sites on the internet still making drivers, but it’s just a whole lot less hassle to upgrade to a more modern card.

Thank you for your advice.
