Opening Medal of Honor Game:

Hi,
I am running XP Home Edition.
I have ATI Rage 128 PRO Video card.
I have DirectX 8.1 compatible driver.
1300 MHZ AMD Athlon Processor.
Plenty to be compatible with this game!
I don’t know whether or not I have the Open GL though that is needed to play the game with DirectX 8.0
The game crashes when I try and play it.
I have attempted to download the Open GL from OpenGL.com but I get, “Only for Win 95 or 98”.
What’s Up! Why can’t I play this game on this PC.
Replies are welcome.
Thanks.

A lot of other people have your problems. Notes :

  1. You don’t need to download OpenGL or DirectX for Win XP.
2.Go to vid card maker’s web site and get latest drivers.
  2. There is no WIN.INI setting to tweak in Win XP (like DVA=0).
  3. After installing the new drivers goto ‘RUN’ and type in ‘DXDIAG’ and do a check for DirectX 8.1.
  4. Install Win XP Service pack - I think it has a new OPENGL.DLL (check in WINDOWS/SYSTEM32).
  5. If this fails - wait for WIN XP SP2 or install Win 98. Else, get a new card that says it supports Win XP proper …

Thanks:
