    I'm in no way against APIs. I'm just saying that if it isn't rasterized graphics, that API shouldn't be OpenGL. I have done my share of coding in Turbo Pascal ;)

    It's not a bad idea to expose the full hardware to developers. But it just doesn't make sense to do it in OpenGL. OpenGL is for rasterized graphics. If you want to do something else you should use...

    Actually, you just need to prove that it is something else... Personally I believe that there may be a merger with OpenGL ES. The simplified OpenGL architecture probably proved suitable for both use...
