You're question wasn't quite clear because it's a sentence fragment with no context. Who is we, what scenarios are you envisioning, and are you asking for a list?

If your question is basically "what is MIPmapping for" or "why MIPmapping is needed?", a websearch on that will turn up plenty of hits, including posts from these forums such as:

For textures that do not change over time, I use mipmaps every single time. Scaling (minification) looks much better.
