View Full Version : Best algorithm generate texture from 3D dimensional metrology (apply to 3D CAD model)

Hello guys
I wonder what is the best algorithm (or one sufficiently good) to generate a texture coming from 3D dimensional metrology.
The problem is as follows:
- 3D Mesh coming from a 3D CAD Model (in engineering) is available
- 3D Scanning is performed in actual produced pieces, generating millions of 3D coordinates measured on the surface of the piece.
- A good texture to represent the deviations with respect to the ideal model (using a color map) and to visualize the results on top of the 3D CAD original model (not on the calculated mesh from the measured points) in a Web 3D environment is sought for...
Any ideas, hints?
