SIGGRAPH 2011: Predictions

So, what do you think will happen in terms of OpenGL at SIGGRAPH 2011? Note that this is not “what do I want to happen to OpenGL?” The question is what you truly believe is likely to come from SIGGRAPH 2011.

Here’s what I’m thinking:

1: Fixes for separate program objects.

2: Direct State Access. I’m guessing they’ll only provide functions for core on that one; compatibility users could use the EXT version.

3: They’ve already said that they expect a 3.3 conformance test, so it’s not much of a prediction for that. With luck, the various implementers will be shamed into some bug fixes.

4: GL ES 3.0. That one might be reaching, but it seems to be about time for it.

5: “Bindless” (vertex transfer) or something more palatable in order to improve vertex transfer times.

6: Canonized (ARB/core 4.2) extensions:

[ul][]EXT_texture_sRGB_decode[]AMD_multi_draw_indirect[]EXT_shader_image_load_store[]AMD_depth_clamp_separate[*]NV_texture_barrier[/ul]

I guess polling is now closed

I would have been terribly surprised not to see ARB_shader_image_load_store, but all my other thoughts were flights of fancy.
