Good day to all,
I’ve found some post on this forum regarding the game Secret of the Solstice and I’ve learn a lot of things about OpenGL, however, my knowledge is still very little…
Here’s the question:
What is the easiest way for me to get OpenGL 1.2?
Here’s the display info. on my computer:

As far as I know, the Windows says that my driver is up to date and this program i got from the forum in the official website of Secret of the Solstice tells me that there’s no further update available to my opengl or something like that.
Right now I have OpenGL 1.1 and I really like to play this game so I need OpenGL1.2
It would be great if you guys give me some advice on getting OpenGL1.2… just one thing; I would like a ways to get my OpenGL1.1 to 1.2 without buying a new computer, my dad won’t buy me a new computer unless it’s my birthday and that’s like 11months from now so that option is kinda weird for me.
my laptop is Toshiba Satellite M100
If there’s any easy way to get 1.2, just let me know thanks
You have a mobile video card. I heard this is often a pain because official ATI drivers will refuse to install, and you are stuck with Toshiba modified drivers, which are rarely updated. So do not trust Windows to tell you if you have up-to-date drivers, because you don’t have them.
Try unoffical ports of the official ATi drivers for mobile cards, such as Omega drivers.
Omega drivers seem to not have been updated in a while.
Try this instead, be sure to follow precisely the step-by-step install procedure : http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php
1: Download MSXML 6.0 from Microsoft. (Default in Vista) - Install.
Step 2 is VISTA ONLY
2: Make sure … etc. etc.
so I click the MSXML 6.0 link which get me to the download page. Then there’re 3 of them -0-:
msxml6_ia64.msi
msxml6_x64.msi
msxml6_x86.msi
Then I dunno which one to choose so I downloaded all of them and try each of them one by one. After I double click, all of them said this:
The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.
What should I do??? I couldn’t even complete step 1 T.T
I am thinking if I didn’t understand the steps correctly…, because it said in bracket:
Default in Vista
Does that means you don’t need to download it because Vista already have them? Because if that’s what they mean, then I could go to step 2 but I am not sure and I don’t wanna do anything wrong here -0-
On the MS page, seeing the date (2006) and the OS required (win2000-XP) it is almost certain the author meant that Step1 is not needed for Vista because already shipped with it.
