OpenGL puts work on Video Card not Processor

The next version of OpenGL should put most of the work on the Video Card not on the Processor. This will leave more system resources open so the user can do more stuff. With the video cards today they can handle it. It would be a great improvement. This would also help compete with DirectX since that is what it dose and thats why its used more for video.

Um, how much more work can OpenGL put on the graphics card than it does now? D3D doesn’t put anymore “work” on the hardware than OpenGL does.

In any case, if there is such a discrepancy, it is more the fault of the implementation than OpenGL itself.
