Is there such a thing?

Does OpenGL exist in any embedded systems? Are there future plans like this?

What are some possible uses?

Yes it does exist check the following link
http://www.opengl.org/News/Special/U2_Embedded_OpenGL.html

It give a pretty good description of what it is and what could be the use for it.

OpenGL is used in sevearl embedded systems for military aoolications (like helicopter heads up displays). There is also an alpha SDK for the PlayStation 2 that sounds interested. And I keep hearing about all of these new consumer level devices coming out for settop boxes and internet game terminals that will all use OpenGL. Some of these may be Linux based but others will be more specific to the system.

Check out VxWorks (By WindRiver) and ATI Nucleus … both are real-time OSs that include OpenGL support…

Now … to make 'em work, you’ll need to contact alt.software (www.altsoftware.com)
