Oldest mac that does opengl?

does anyone out there know when opengl with hardware acceleration became available on the mac? i am curious what was the first graphics card available for macs and what kind of macs were available at the time it came out.

thanks in advance.

The iMacs all shipped with a 3D-accelerating video card, as did the blue-and-white G3s that were around at the same time. 3D cards could also be added to earlier machines, of course.

I’m not sure when accelerated OpenGL was first supported, though (RAVE always was). It certainly was on the Rage Pro (although Mac OS X doesn’t accelerate OpenGL on that card). I don’t know about the earlier Rage II.

In any case, the answer is '98 or '99.
