Rgb bits distribution?

In 24-32 bits mode I have 8,8,8 bits defining rgb colors.

In 8 bit mode, how is the bit distribution,
is it 233, 323, 332, or is it hardware-dependent?

The same for 16 bit mode, is it 655, 565, 556 or
is it hardware-dependent?

It’s an index into a colour palette.

Below 16 bits should be a palette, but 16 would more likely be 565.
