New video card (GeForce 2)

HI, I’ve just change my video card for an NVidia GeForce 2 AGP ASUS V7100.
But I can’t get my interface to work.

Does anybody know which steps should I take to get it working?

I installed 2 rpm I found at Nvidia home page but I don’t know what to do next…

Thanks

You may find a quite well done readme/faq at http://www.nvidia.com/Products/OpenLinuxDwn.nsf/1251readmefaq

Yes, you only need to edit your XF86Config file. Two additional options:

  • adjust gamma in the XF86Config file, my screen was pretty dark
  • get GLU 1.3 from the Mesa page but remember that Windows only has 1.2

I don’t know what version of X server you’re running, but I know I couldn’t get my GeForce 2 to work with anything but the standard drivers until I upgraded to X version 4.0.+. Mandrake Linux’ latest distribution ships with an option for installing X 4. I can run all the GL games from lokigames.com, as well as play Unreal Tournament. But prior to this upgrade, X saw it as just a Standard VGA card.
