why quake?

It seams everyone tries to build some q3-like engine to import q3/q2 levels and models… why only this game… why is nobody working on lets say unreal/UT/DeusEx/IGI… clone? So far I haven’t seen even any attempt to do this. Are thoes engines to complex or what? …becouse, lets face it: q3 and UT just cant be compared… they are on different levels…

umm,
i have access to the fileformat and the way it’s laid out… (don’t ask for it)…

but it’s a lot harder to understand and reverse eng then how john lays out his file formats…

honestly, i say ascii all the way if your on the pc, some companies i don’t get.
like rogue entertainment…

but honestly, i say to just create your own file formats instead of just writing a reader…
much funner and you learn a lot more that way
