Hi,

Could anybody tell me the exact architectural difference between these two GPU's as far as I know both of them support the Register Combiners Extension, then wtf is the Nvida Shading Rasterizer( NSR) stuff I see on their website?, They say that this was introduced only with Geforce 2 range.

Am sure GeForce 256 also has the same NSR, then what is the actual difference, any pointers to documents comparing the two architectures?

Thanks in advance,
Sundar

From a filpcode forum (by NEGA) :

product briefs dont mean jack, they are still guided by the name game and overboasting, was when I downloaded the latest leaked beta drivers 27.42, this was inside its driver info

Geforce 1 and 2 have the same capabilities, thats what's important. There are some architectural differencies, like I think gf2 has 2 physical texture units per pipeline instead of one, but the only difference in practice is speed.

Whether 'NSR' is the Gf2 architecture or the Gf1/Gf2 capabilities is, unless you are particularly interested in marketing terms, irrelevant.
