octree optimizations

hi.

i am currently using octree for space partitioning and it supports backface and frustum culling.

my question is if anyone has a way of further optimizing the octree.
i thought about implementing occlusion culling but i cant think of a way to do this.

any thoughts,sources,tuts,links are welcomed.
