New Game Console based on OpenGL!

I wonder if some company would make a game console based on OpenGL and non-Windows OS (Linux? Mac?).

I believe, with help of video board company like 3DLab, it will be technically possible to make a game console based on OpenGL.

And if development SDK were cheap, I am willing to learn programming for non-Windows OS. Current game console has too high barrier for developers: too expensive SDK and put other limitations to access SDK
(I am currently MS Windows only programmer)

I think that this would be a great idea. I would like to see one based on the BeOS. The BeOS is fast as hell and they are revamping their accelerated OpenGL support. Also, the API is a well-designed
C++ framework.
I did get to see BG speak about the X-Box last week at GDC2000, and it was pretty impressive. At the moment the plan is to have DX8 support but I wouldn’t be surprised if there will be OpenGL avalialbe as well. It will be using an nVidia N15.

“Indrema to bring Linux and OpenGL to TV”

This seems to work as a game console.
Wow, amazing.
