Display Lists

Series of questions(thanks in advance for any help)
Do the latest nvidia drivers for the GeForce line of chips store display lists on the card?
If so, is there any way to verify that the geometry is being stored on the card?
Is this Hardware T&L?
Is VAR faster than using Display lists and why?
Thanks again

  1. It doesn’t matter where display lists are stored, probably AGP memory rather than video memory.

  2. No, there is no way to verify where the data is stored.

  3. Hardware T&L is done regardless of display lists/VAR/CVA’s/vertex arrays.

  4. VAR is possibly faster, because you have more control over where the geometry is stored. If your geometry is static, there probably isn’t much difference in speed. Although most ppl agree VAR will still be slightly faster.

Hope this helps,
