I have searched the web and the forums and so far not found a tesselating example that works. All have an abnormal crash. (all I want to do is draw concave polygons).
Anyone got any code that actually works?

Then you are probably doing something wrong, have you checked where it crashes (in the sample code or somehwre else…) and why ?
