Solaris 10 and OpenGL

Ok I am tired of Microsoft and want to try Solaris 10 because is free ( also the basic developement tools ). The questions are:

  1. Has ATI Solaris 10 drivers(nvidia has, i saw it) ? All I see are windows/linux/mac os drivers? Can I use the linux one in Solaris 10?

  2. How I initialize an OpenGL window in Solaris 10? In the same way that a Linux one using GLX?

thx

Hi,

I wasn’t tired of Microsoft but I installed Solaris 10 too (: It’s a very cool O/S

1/ I don’t think that ATI has released solaris 10 drivers. I’m an nvidia customers so i can’t help you but, you could check if a ATI customer forum exists like nvnews (independent from nvidia but extremely associated), then ask if solaris 10 drivers exists, or suggests to develop one.

2/ Yes it’s pretty similar, more information here.
opengl on sun solaris . As you can see the link is broken, i signaled it, you can try this
search results on sun website

There another solution. As you know Sun recently released OpenSolaris, maybe the opensource communauty will release drivers…

Opensolaris web page

hope that helps.
