When we examinate a file .ASE from an object with textures coordinates, it has 3 coord per
vertex, why 3 and not 2 if its from a 2 dimensional bitmap image?

Help wanted.

I'm a bit puzzled about that too. Perhaps 3dsmax can use 3d textures?

You're asumming correctly. 3DSMAX has support for 3-dimensional textures. However, as long as you use standard bitmaps for your textures you can just ignore the third coordinate.
