Are there different Versions of OpenGL or are there different Standards?

There are so many versions of DirectX, higher Versions have more Funktions!
Is this also the same with Opengl and wich Version does the Current OpenglVersion have?

Ofcourse newer/“higher” version of OpenGL exposes more functionality than older versions.

There are also extensions, for example to take advantage of new/specific features in hardware.

The current version of OpenGL is… well, that depends!

Usually on a Win98 box you’d have version 1.1. But since there are extension, I guess on certain hardware you will have most of the functionality of the new version 1.2.
