3d modeling tools

I was just trying to find out more information on Free 3d modeling tools for creating and editing models. I wouls also likt to try and find more infor on animating models.

Any suggestions?

For what OS ?

A good start would be www.povray.org (the links section), www.sourceforge.net and www.freshmeat.net could also be useful, but there is more for UNIX then for WinOSes

Check out Anim8or which is free, functional and supports animation. It also reads 2 or 3 mesh file formats and can export 3DS meshes.

I am luving it.
