I know this is not the appropriate forum to post this on, but I figured that someone may know....

With VC or VB how can you

1. Detect what scanners are on the computer
2. Interface and use them.

If you know of a good VC or Windows programing forum like this it would be great also

I've never tried to do this before, but if I were going to I'd search for info on Twain. You might check http://www.codeguru.com. They have a decent store of Win32 knowledge. I just did a quick search on MSDN and didn't come up with anything. (The CD version, not the website.)

I did some searching because this is something I'd be interested in learning, as well. (I'm also intereted in getting data from web-cams and I noticed once that my Creative WebCam has a TWAIN source.) Here's some links that might be helpful..

Only available on Me, but here's info on Windows Imaging Aquisition API <a href="http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?URL=/library/psdk/wia/startpage_1gyt.htm" target="_blank">http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?URL=/library/psdk/wia/startpage_1gyt.htm[/ URL]

An activeX scanner control.. [URL=http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?URL=/library/sdkdoc/3rdparty/hidh_imgscan_contents.htm]http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?URL=/library/sdkdoc/3rdparty /hidh_imgscan_contents.htm</a>

I'm still looking for info specifically about TWAIN. If I find anything useful, I'll add some more links here.

What do you know... there's info at http://www.twain.org/ http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubb/smile.gif
