General fragment shader/program queries

Hi folks,

I’ve been playing with OpenGL for a while now, and recently bought a new iBook G4. This comes with a Radeon Mobility 9200, which, unlike my old machine, has fragment programming capabilities care of ATI_TEXT_FRAGMENT_SHADER.

Given that it doesn’t (under OS X 10.3 and/or OpenGL 1.3) seem to support any other fragment programming extensions, I wanted to hear about other people’s experience in regard to how powerful and/or flexible ATI_TEXT_FRAGMENT_SHADER is for practical purposes in relation to the other, similar extensions?

(I have seen, and read the spec on ATI_TEXT_FRAGMENT_SHADER, by the way :slight_smile:
