I am currently in the process of developing a flight sim. I have at the moment completed the particle engine, the terrain engine, the normal calculations. Now, I would like to know if I really must learn Octrees and the like, or can I just do with basic frustrum culling? I know this would be slower but I dont feel ready for octrees and the like. Also, how should I implement collision detection with the terrain?
