Hardware maximisation and 3D Model loading

I have a new system with a Radeon 9700 Pro, and as you may know this card can push a few polygons around the screen. However, my programs are causing 100% CPU usage, and i dont think the program uses my systems resources. Any GL extensions which switch this sort of thing on?

Also, ive been playing with a few 3d model loaders but it is hard to get models in component form (i.e MD3 with all the different body parts, textures ect) so anyone know a good GL loader that can take 3D models from commercial games and load them? Pretty much any game is fine, but return to castle wolfenstein model loading would be cool…
