Hello, I saw the Heightmap tutorial on Fatech, does anybody know of a heightmap tutorial that uses BMP file instead, I prefer them over tga files at the moment…Is it possible to have a heightmap from a BMP file?
A heightmap is just raw data. Wether you load this raw data from a BMP, TGA, PNG, JPG, GIF, <insertotherfileextensionhere>, is irrelevant. It’s simple to store the data in an image fileformat, because then you can watch the image in your favourite imageviewer/painprogram.
