I pretty much cover the steps required.

  1. Log on as Administrator
  2. Download the right driver for your card and OS
  3. Install and reboot

Might be a good idea to remove previous driver and reboot, and then install the new one, but this has not been a problem for me.

i read what you said. i even looked for nvoglnt.dll, which i found. however when i load jedi knight 2 jedi outcast, it still says that it cannot load opengl subsystem.

also when i look for the file that jedi knight says is missing at startup, i find that it is not there. it is called opengl32.dll. when i do a search on my computer for opengl, all i find is the history on the internet of all the hours ive spent rying to fix the problem.

another question. ive tried the demo of a program called gldirect. it has a giant demo sign after 5 minutes, but it seems to work fine until then. will it work with any other program that normally requires opengl?

opengl32.dll is a system file and should be present in the system32 folder of WinXP (if that’s your OS)
Same for glu32.dll

If not, then you should reinstall the OS which should copy it back and any other ****ed up files.

You may have to reinstall the nvidia driver after that.

GLdirect is for people running really problematic cards like matrox. Don’t bother with it.

how do i reinstall the driver

also i looked for glu32.dll and opengl32.dll. i found glu32.dll but didnt find opengl32.dll

OK, reinstall the OS
