glw_startopengl()could not load opengl subsystem

my computer is: winxp(pro) 1.25ghz athlon, 384mbRAM, radeon 9800xxlMEDION(XL).
Recently downloaded the drivers for the card at http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html
aswell as got my updates for my motherboard which is an k7Dragon plus!
downloaded the openGL 1.1. threw it in my game folder inside the gl folder,renamed the old 2 files with an .old at the end,the new 2 files i left alone. I still recieve the error message! please any help would help, ive been googleING this for 2 days. heres the problem to help a little more>Wolf 1.33-MP win-x86 Jun 1 2002
