Jedi Academy problems

Hey!
I just recently bought Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, and have been having problems since the get go.
Now the problem says in the OpenGL window that there is some Corrupt Zone Header!.
I was wondering what can be done to rectify the problem.

Uh… hum…

What kind of computer and video card do you have?

What operating system?

Are you within minimum specs on the game?

Are you using the most recent driver for your video card?

Did you download and install all patches for your new game?

Some information would be helpful.

Ok.
I have a P4 2ghz.
64mb RADEON 7000 with latest drivers.
Windows XP Home edition.
There are no patches because it was just released on the 16th of this month.
I have way above the minimum specs.
Please tell me what to do.

Sounds like one of the game files is broken.

No idea how to fix that other then reinstalling the game or to ask Lucas Arts tech support.

Well, I’ll try reinstalling it, and I have already asked lucasarts tech support for help.
Thanks for the ideas.

I tried everything that was suggested and still nothing. Here is exactly what comes up in the OGL window.

Z_Free(): Corrupt zone header!

oopsies.
didnt mean to post that one twice

Have you tried the Omega drivers? They’re based on the latest catalyst drivers from ATI, but with some compatibility options preset.
http://www.omegacorner.com/index_ati.html

Good luck.

forget trying drivers - the game is broken.
I have an Nvidia GeForce4 Ti4600, 128Mb DDR, 2xP3 700hz, 384Mb Ram, Win XP - system PASSES all requirements, latest drivers, latest direct X . Game doesnt start with - failed to load openGL subsystem - Lucas (Activision), were useless, and told me to load the latest drivers - HELLO!!! I already have done!!,and downgraded them, and oaded them again!!! - they dont really want to know. I am returning the game I paid $50 for, and will get something that actually works.

Remember - if people sold cars the way these cowboys sell computer games , we would all be walking …!

I just tried the demo of that game, it crashed left, right and center on me.

I blame the game itself, because every other software works like a charm.

I wouldnt be too surprised if Lucas Arts releases a patch any day now.

the game isn’t broken, i had the same problem myself. It’s a resolution problem, because there are corruptions at the seams of adjacent textures. Go to the video settings in the game and switch the color depth to 32-bit. I did it and it works fine.

Hope that helps.

Huh? Nobody was talking about the visual quality (the z fighting that happens at 16 bit), the game freezes my system hard, so I have to push the power button because nothing else works.

Since my system runs any other (and my own) OpenGL applications without a problem, the game itself must be the problem.

Its just one of thoose crappy “we ride on the starwars wave and dont care about quality since it gets bought anyway” productions.

No thanks! I tried the demo and I surely wont buy this POS.

Hey. The game is not a pos, from what I got to play of it, but there should be a patch coming out soon (hopefully). Anyways, I had a lengthy email discussion with one of the support people at lucasarts, and he/she suggested that I just send the game back in for a brand ****ing new one that is still sealed in the package. They also said that I should be able to run it on my machine. I already knew that because my computer puts the minimum specs to shame.
Anyways, the game is actually well done, except for all the errors causing the game to crash.

OK, I had this game now since last monday. IT doesnt F*****g work period!
My system is way above spec, I can run any other open GL game. I have loaded, unloaded and loaded again the drivers, each time scrubbing the registry of old driver information. tried detonator 44.03, and also 45.23 (latest) - so latest drivers, directx 9.0, all other games run, what do Activision tell me … Um… Its your drivers, reload them again … NOOO You pack of idiots! - you go fix your damn game!

I do know my way around windows, and I know my system is working fine. ( yes tech support I do know windows! - well as much as any other MSCE, who manages a large network for a living!!!) -so get a life and fix the damn game and stop fobbing me off!

OK I’ve had my say… was it worth 50 bucks, to get 2 CD’s that don’t work … ? NO … Dont buy it people, unless you thoroughly test it FIRST!!

The game works fine for me for what its worth. …and it’s dam fun to play.

I have the game running on my machine currently. I am having a problem in the 3rd (I think) level. I shutdown all the bombs and for some reason when I go to the main doors to exit to the ship, they won’t open. Also, at the beggining when customizing my lightsaber I was only able to choose the regular single blade one. Has anyone else had these problems?

I can’t get my single player to launch, yet my multiplayer does. I have already gotten a replacement copy, yet the problem persists. Why is this happening? What can I do to fix it? My computer is way above the minimum requirments. Please Advise me!

Here’s my error:
