IDV, Inc seeks beta testers for Eye-Sys®, a new data-driven real-time visualization system launching commercially in Q4 2007. OpenTK is a cross-platform game development library for .Net/Mono. This release features ~50% faster OpenGL extension loading, new tutorials on fixed function Lighting and Vertex Arrays and a cross-platform tool that reports OpenGL extensions supported by your hardware. It also introduces support for framerate limiting and improves inline documentation.

AntTweakBar 1.1 Released

AntTweakBar 1.1 has been released. This version includes a long-awaited feature: the String variable type (and keyboard input for value editing), along with several improvements. AntTweakBar is a small and easy-to-use C/C++ library that allows programmers to quickly add a light and intuitive GUI into OpenGL based graphic programs to interactively tweak them. It is free, works with Windows and Linux, and can be easily intergated with your own windowing system or existing toolkits (GLUT, SDL, GLFW,...).

Drishti volume exploration and presentation tool v0.1.8 released

Drishti is a volume exploration and presentation tool using OpenGL Shading Language shaders and 3D textures. Drishti is designed to let users explore volumetric datasets as well as use in presentations. The software now provides ability to visualize tensors using superellipsoids, networks visualization, importing of image stacks including DICOM images and has improved graphical interface for remapping 16/32bit volumes to 8bit volumes. OpenGL Mathematics (GLM) provides GLSL features to the C++ language. Vectors, matrices and most of the GLSL functions are supported. It’s also extend GLSL feature a way GLSL could do. It includes quaternion, spline, half numbers and a lot of operations on vectors and matrices.

AMD OpenGL ES 2.0 and OpenVG 1.0 technologies coming to a Freescale i.MX processor near you

AMD today announced Freescale Semiconductor will license its 2D and 3D graphics technology. Freescale Semiconductor will use the AMD graphics technologies to equip its i.MX processors with OpenGL ES 2.0 and OpenVG 1.0 technologies. OpenGL ES 2.0 and OpenVG technologies are designed for mobile applications where battery life is key, including portable gaming, navigation and media player devices.

NVIDIA updates Shader Library

NVIDIA updated their Shader Library, a repository of shader samples for developers to reference while producing their 3D applications. Tied into their FX Composer tool, the library is full of algorithm implementations and ideas for developers to make use of when developing their own applications, either as inspiration or wholesale if the effect is exactly what they need.

Lua scriptable engine Luxinia 0.97 released

The Luxinia engine got enhanced in its material/shader system, to make runtime modifications to a material’s texture setup and node-based shader parameter passing easier. A new render-command mechanism was introduced, that allows more detailed changes to the inner renderloop, the commands allow usage of the FBO extension, and therefore MRT and float16/32 render-targets are finally supported. Lua-wise dynamic nodes are now completely garbage collected, which fastens development. One of the demo games part of the free for non-commercial engine, a space arcade shooter, was also rewritten and makes use of the new effects possible. Luxinia’s GUI system got further improved as well.

New release of Catalyst Linux driver includes OpenGL performance improvements

ATI-AMD has an updated release of the Catalyst Linux driver. This release introduces some OpenGL Game Performance Improvements for ATI Radeon™ Graphics Accelerators (Beta Support) includes significant OpenGL performance improvements for a variety of ATI Radeon™ graphics accelerators for OpenGL consumer based games such as Doom 3 and Quake 4.
