How to obtain OpenGL's version and update?

    Hi,
I use Win XP. I found the OpenGL's version on my machine is extremly low, it is about 1.3. I mean, the latest version is 4.2.So, how to update?

Install the latest drivers for your graphics card. Note taht not all cards support the latest versions of OpenGL!

As menzel said, install up to date drivers for your graphics card and if your card is capable of supporting higher versions of OpenGL, then they will be available.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenGL has a list of some hardware that is required to support each OpenGL version. For example if you had GeForce 8000 series, then only up to OpenGL 3.3 would be available and to access higher versions you would need to buy a newer more powerful card.
