glxserver nvidia but glxclient ATI ?!?

Hi all,
i don't understand why i have server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
but client glx vendor string: ATI

i must say that last year i had an ATI card and i have changed notebook porting everything on this one with an nvidia card installed.
i'm using gentoo and i have the last nvidia dirvers avaliable, last xorg-server 1.4.0.90-r3
, mesa7.0.3 and mesa-progs7.0.3, kernel 2.6.23-r3, nvidia-drivers173.08
i believe i always had this glx client, also with the previuos software releases.
I've tried to recompile almost every package

Something is wrong with your driver install. It's not using Nvidia's libGL. If it were, direct rendering would be enabled. Try doing 'ldd $(which glxinfo)' to find out which libGL it's trying to use. It's likely a leftover from the ATI driver install. The Nvidia installer is usually pretty good about finding conflicting libraries and moving / removing them, but it seems to have failed in this case.

Since you're running Gentoo, it's actually really easy to fix the OpenGL issue you're having.

Run the following as root:

eselect opengl list
eselect opengl set <number for NVIDIA>

Also, when you figure out which GL it's using, probe which one that is with this:

If you see anything for the first, it's probably Mesa GL. If you see a bunch of stuff for the second, it's NVidia. Otherwise, it's probably ATI.
