This section should be renamed Items of Ignorance.
(usually just hobbyist) OpenGL driver developer
or OpenGL.org forum members rambling zone.
Coincidentally, ignorance is sometimes fertile ground for some mighty fine rambling.
Although ignorance would be eliminated with an update.. or a pipeline issue, or anything, really.
At the moment I'd be happy with "ok, we've canceled OpenGL 3.0 in favor of {X}", which although grim, would put aside the wild speculation. 7 months of nothing begs for some/any news.
Personally, I've pretty much decided this weekend to take a serious look at D3D10; when I first learnt OpenGL it was D3D8 and the interface was horrible and OpenGL was a better option, D3D9 was an improvement and if D3D10 is better then I'll be using that from now on.
In short; I've had enough of waiting and I feel sorry for those who are stuck with OpenGL for whatever technical reasons they have![]()
If you do this, please make a new thread an share your experiences!
Actually, that's what I wanted to do, but I'm far FAR from being ready to switch over...

Interestingly, their sections are listed as "Forthcoming". Also I don't see a listing for OpenGL yet in the BOF list. Must be something warming up in the wings...Originally Posted by bobvodka
I have an idea - let's all switch to D3D!
Then, when OpenGL 3.0 is finally released, it will have to be extremely good!
Otherwise, regular D3D programmers like us will not even consider switching from D3D to OpenGL.
So, for the sake of OpenGL, we all have to switch to D3D now![]()
Sure, can you point me to the D3D SDK for linux?![]()
