    It's the one right after the 2nd party. Seriously, it's usually defined as something that is not developed by you or someone else "in house". At my job I use a lot of 3rd party libraries to parse XML, do HTTP communication, etc. If you're writing a game for a game company, OpenGL might be considered a "3rd party" graphics library since your company didn't write it.
