Re: The ARB announced OpenGL 3.0 and GLSL 1.30 tod

Would it be possible for the deprecated features in OpenGL 3.0 to be migrated from core OpenGL to the GLU Library. If these features have been earmarked for removal because they are unlikely to be...

Re: The ARB announced OpenGL 3.0 and GLSL 1.30 tod

I must say that I like the idea of OpenGL as a platform and as a hobbiest am not bound to have to deliver anything in a given time frame. I may investigate DirectX as I have already been doing before...

    Re: OpenGL 3 Updates

On the O/S front I believe that last I heard 70% of the deskop market was still running XP. I think Vista was only 10% but these figures could be wrong or outdated. There are plenty of people I know...

    Re: OpenGL 3 Updates

Will OpenGL 3.0 be available for XP / XP x64 from the outset or would I have to use Vista to get them. XP is soon to be unsupported but I don't want to switch if I can help it.

    Re: OpenGL 3 Updates

I think the NVidia vs ATI (or AMD) thing is just not going to be an argument which has a conclusion. My experience has been that each side has problems. I have had problems (but quite different...

    Re: OpenGL 3 Updates

The ATI / AMD naming things is a bit more complicated in that ATI was a manufacturer in itself. In a way that component of the organisation still exists as part of AMD. We don't refer to GeForce as a...

    Re: OpenGL 3 Updates

This could work out pretty well for me if it goes according to plan. In theory I will have access to OpenGL 3.0 by some time next month. One thing I wonder is how quickly developer resources will be...

    Re: OpenGL 3 Updates

I don't know what the real problem is refering to ATI as ATI rather than AMD. I know AMD bought them out but they still maintain the ATI branding and identity and as long as they continue to do so I...

I wonder if we couldn't all just be friends.

Perhaps we should take a minutes silence to remember all those who died in the API wars.

    Re: OpenGL 3 Updates

I hope AMD / ATI manage to turn their fortunes round soon. It has been a pretty poor year for then. Albeit it seems like both have been seen as underdogs to their competitors (AMD more so in the...

    Re: OpenGL 3 Updates

It looks like quite a can of worms has been opened here. In terms of the introduction of Direct X I am going on what I read from the OpenGL SuperBible (so the source is biblical). That went over the...

    Re: OpenGL 3 Updates

There tends to be a common theme in terms of platforms. Any Microsoft platform will have some form of DirectX. Windows, Windows Mobile, XBox 360. By contrast as far as I am aware only the Windows...

    Re: OpenGL 3 Updates

I have gone away and done some reading on the OpenCL, CUDO / CTM GPGPU and such on the spatial query front. OpenCL looks promising but as it was only launched this year it is very early days.
