A basic question!

I'm a noob,
I have many questions, the first:
Is GLSL used in a standalone way, or does it have to be used combined with, for example, c++ and opengl?

GLSL is not standalone, it needs to be combined with OpenGL. For programming language, you have many languages to choose from. If you have a favorite, use that.
