Hi,

Our lab desktop needs to update its AGP graphics card to install Ubuntu (Unfortunately the current 9700 pro cannot be installed properly).

So we are looking for 7600gt or hd 3650, since they are AGP cards still available in the market.

We work mainly in OpenGL, and we don't play games. I had terrible experience with OpenGL extension support on my mobility radeon 9600.

Though hd 3650 has more graphics performance, I am thinking choosing Nvidia this time. Any suggestions?

Indeed nvidia has very good linux drivers.

Extension support is good on R500+ cards (the 3650 is R600-level), but ati linux drivers are still behind in other areas (stability, general desktop performance). If you don't require GL3, go nvidia.
