Dont start asking those kind of questions here, learn the language

If your asking that.. learn java much easier for you to understand to learn on then come to c/c++ as i did much better for the mind in java its so easy to do anything and its soo well documented

If you find Java easier, then good for you.
As for rendering stuff on GL, if you won't want to do it yourself, there is always cegui (crazy eddy's GUI system). Very popular.
