writing a screensaver

I have wrote some screensavers, but I can't figure out how to make them close when the mouse is moved.

The screensaver daemon runs in the background and starts a child process after a while. If some mouse movement or keyboard activity is detected does it kill the child process.

I think that the standard program is xscreensaver http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/

In the hacks/glx/ directory will you find screensavers with sources that is using OpenGL.
