Volume rendering code

I have a large scale adaptive distance field that I want to render. Is there any free code that can do this? I was able to find some codes, but they deal with only uniform grids...

Could you characterize your data?

Is it just an irregular mesh, a volumetric scalar field, a point cloud?

Also, how do you want to view the data?
